On Monday 19 February, the Interministerial Delegation for Digital Transition, Monaco Telecom and teams at the Maison du Numérique met to review the centre’s activities and present this year’s programme.

The centre is equipped with interactive terminals and a wide range of computers and digital equipment (smartphones, tablets, computers, connected televisions, fibre modems, WiFi terminals, etc.) and has a fully modular space in which it welcomes 250 visitors every month: primarily Monegasque nationals and residents who are 65 years old on average. Programming is varied so that support can be adapted to visitors’ needs:

  • Assistance and open access to equipment, with digital advisors available on site from Tuesday to Saturday to guide visitors in the use of digital tools, online services and the most commonly used applications in Monaco.
  • Workshops for small groups offered throughout the year to deepen knowledge on various topics using a fun, hands-on approach
  • Special conferences with experts who share their experience using an educational approach to raise awareness about the latest digital trends and developments. Last November, a seven-day “Immersive Week” was organised to address the metaverse, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence, attended by over one hundred students, enthusiasts and interested visitors of all ages

Pascal Rouison, Head of Interministerial Delegation for Digital Transition, recalled the joint ambition of public and private stakeholders in the Principality to ensure universal access to the digital world, a new economic cornerstone in city-states like Monaco and a part of everyday life.

Monaco launched digital services five years ago, with great success. But they need to include everyone, and contrary to popular belief, seniors are not the only people affected by the digital divide. Our role is to offer the population the tools needed to understand digital products and services available in the region and to help them navigate new technological shifts such as artificial intelligence.

Martin Peronnet, CEO of Monaco Telecom, confirmed the importance of finding a solution for every user, to build trust, enhance each person’s skills, and maintain a local service dear to the Monegasque operator.

We all know that innovation not shared by all falls short of its purpose. The Maison du Numérique is a major step forward in the local outreach and support we wish to offer each of our customers.

Martin Peronnet, CEO of Monaco Telecom

Anthony Boccone, Manager of the Maison du Numérique, concluded by announcing the programme for the next few months, which includes new workshops on getting started with the Mon Espace Domaines app, the dos and don’ts of social media, and using ChatGPT. He also announced the launch of workshops in English and new event formats to include other segments of the population, such as young professionals, parents and people with disabilities.

The digital transition requires resources and personalised support. The Maison du Numérique lets everyone navigate this change at their own pace
